Ralph Albert Blakelock , (1847 - 1919) one of America's most beloved and forged artists, lived in Brooklyn in the Greenpoint section. Studied at City College in New York.  He had trouble making a living for his wife Cora and their 9 children and suffered a breakdown from which he recovered and went on to paint masterpieces in the Hudson and Barbizon School traditions. His works hang in the National Academy of Design and he is considered a COLORIST. Blakelock loved Moonlight and the depth it created in forest scenes.
